​MASSEY AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY
FAIR MANAGER

Location: Massey Fairgrounds, Massey, ON
Terms: 16-weeks, full time contract (35 hours per week), start date May 5, 2025
Wages: $22-$25/hour based on experience
About us: The Massey Agricultural Society is a volunteer organization. Our mission is to encourage agricultural awareness, celebrate our community, promote arts and culture, and the rural lifestyle. We provide educational, cultural, and agricultural experiences to our members and the public.
About the role: The Fair Manager will report directly to the Massey Agricultural Society President and Board of Directors and will carry out the work of the board to plan and prepare for the annual Massey Fair, in August. As a Fair Manager you are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the fair, including planning, scheduling events, managing vendors and exhibitors, coordinating entertainment, marketing, and ensuring the smooth operation of the fairgrounds, while maintaining a positive community experience for attendees and participants; working closely with the fair board to achieve objectives and stay within financial constraints.
Responsibilities:
Planning, Vendor and Exhibitor Management, Marketing and Promotion, Grounds Management, Staff and Volunteer Management, Community Engagement, Compliance and Safety, Post Fair Analysis.
Managing staff, morning meet with staff to review the days tasks, training staff, monitoring staff, ensuring safe use of equipment, checking on staff multiple times throughout the day, scheduling, ensuring work hours are logged and submitted for staff, work alongside multiple committees to assist with various tasks such as but not limited to: advertising, promotion of events, contacting and registering event participants, exploring fundraising, sponsorship, grant opportunities, general administration, maintenance as required.
Requirements:
Must be available to work occasional weekends and evenings
Must be available to work Massey Fair Week through to the Weekend and the week following.
Valid CPIC
Valid First Aid & CPR
Access to a personal vehicle is an asset

Experience/Skills:
Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Marketing and promotional experience.
Event management expertise.
Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Knowledge of local regulations and permitting requirements related to events.
Leadership qualities to motivate and manage a team.
Ability to manage staff.
Superior Computer skills including experience with Google platform, Canva, Excel
Management experience is an asset.
Computer skills including experience with Google platform, Canva, Excel
Public relations
Ability to work independently
Communication – written and spoken
Experience organizing events
Ability to manage 1-5 staff
